About

NYHRE’s participants are disproportionately affected by HIV and Hepatitis C. Our Harm Reduction Counseling staff and Peers conduct voluntary, confidential testing on a drop-in basis Mondays through Saturdays.

NYHRE utilizes a rapid HIV and HCV test for preliminary testing which takes 20 minutes to develop. If an HIV test is reactive, we immediately provide a confirmatory test which requires a finger-stick. If an HCV test is reactive, we refer participants to community partners for PCR testing and treatment. NYHRE has partnerships with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and Montefiore Medical Center for linkages to HIV and HCV primary care.
